At the IPBES Plenary-12 in Manchester, the global methodological assessment of the impact of businesses on biodiversity will be discussed and the report released – this is the first ever global assessment of the impact and dependencies of businesses on biodiversity
As a landmark assessment, it will help shape future international and national policies that affect how governments and businesses alike may need to transition and align with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
This will be first of a kind and include a review of methodologies to assess impacts and detailed review of the levers and actions needed for business transformation. The assessment, primarily for governments will provide key messages on the current state of knowledge, knowledge gaps and actions needed by businesses to achieve “nature positive” outcomes.
To help businesses understand IPBES and its remit, and help understand the potential longer-term implications of the business and biodiversity assessment, and recognizing the importance of collaborative actions in generating business opportunities, the UKBBF has teamed up with the JNCC, the Green Finance Institute and Nature Alpha to provide insights on the significance of this assessment for businesses – with two webinars and subsequent business-focused events.
